GOLFERS SET FOR FINAL

FIRST-TIME finalists Haywards Heath have the task of preventing Worthing lifting the title for the fourth time in seven years. And it is likely that the neutral sandy downland course at Cowdray Park, a 6,212-yard par 70, will hold the key to the outcome.

Although Worthing are favourites, they go into the match with only one of their team who played in their 2000 winning final and they have few rounds of golf around Cowdray to rub between them.

Arwel Roberts and Peter Drew survived from the 2000 line-up to fight this year's Worthing corner but Drew will be unavailable on Saturday, as he was for the semi-final which they scraped through at the last hole.

Scott Williams, who missed the 2000 final but played earlier rounds, tees off this time.

More details in Worthing Herald on September 11.
