Racecourse manager Alex Eade said it would be a hectic but enjoyable few days at the venue.

“We’re hopeful of good weather for two fixtures that between them offer something for everyone,” Eade said.

“There’ll be good racing, great music for Friday night’s crowd and so much for families to do on Sunday.”

This evening’s racing starts at 6.20pm and concludes at 8.50pm.

There are 57 declared runners across the card, which includes what should be a cracking two-year-olds’ race.

A limited number of tickets will be available on the gate tonight.

On Sunday, it’s the Goodwood’s family raceday, in association with the NSPCC, providing visitors with an opportunity to learn all about horse racing.

After gates open at 11.30am, the day provides an opportunity to learn all about horse racing.

Children are invited to tour the jockeys’ weighing room and try on the silks, while families can take a guided walk with clerk of the course Seamus Buckley.

You can meet a racehorse to appreciate their size and power, visit the race start as the runners burst from the stalls, watch farrier demonstrations and quiz a vet.

Race-goers can have a go at riding a finish on a mechanical horse. And if anyone still has the energy, there is even a free fairground to enjoy.

To promote Sunday, three young racegoers took to the turf on inflatable ‘horsey hoppers’ for a race over a quarter of a furlong.
