Goodwood plan inspection amid fears over waterlogging

AN overnight forecast for more rain has forced officials at Goodwood racecourse to hold a precautionary inspection at 6.30am tomorrow morning (Thursday) with an eight-race card due in the afternoon.

A spokeswoman said: “The current going is soft, heavy in places. But with rain forecast for this evening we have decided to hold an inspection to air on the side of caution ahead of racing tomorrow.

“There are some patches of particular concern on the outer loop, which put the last two races at particular risk, and we want to be certain that these are safe before we give racing the full go-ahead.

“There will be an updated going report at 6.30am tomorrow morning.”
