Grace to go on the run for GB

Pett-based runner Grace Baker is preparing to represent Great Britain at the Bupa Great Edinburgh Cross-Country this weekend

The 18-year-old from Pett is part of a six-strong GB junior women’s squad which will contest the Bupa Great Edinburgh Cross-Country tomorrow (Saturday).

GB will compete against the USA and a European select team at what is regarded as one of the world’s best annual cross-country events and attracts the cream of world talent.

The former Rye and Bexhill College pupil won the senior and under-20 ladies’ titles at the Sussex Cross-Country Championships in Bexhill last weekend.

Given the appalling wet and muddy conditions, Baker was relieved to come through unscathed, although she did take a fall at one point. The Royal Holloway University student has been training locally this week with Hastings AC and will travel with the GB squad today (Friday).
