Hailsham postponement is frustrating for Hornets

Horsham have been left frustrated after tonight's Premier Division clash at Hailsham Town has been postponed due to an unfit pitch.

A pitch inspection this afternoon has ruled that tonight’s clash in East Sussex is again unplayable.

The previous attempt at the fixture back at the end of November saw the only postponement in the whole division.

And tonight’s clash has gone the same way, much to the frustration of Hornets boss Dominic Di Paola.

He said: “They called it off when we were the only game off on a Saturday about two months ago and I thought it was a bit of a conspiracy at the time, but maybe it’s just poor down there.

“It’s just annoying, we just want to get the games played, get going and get things finished.

“I suppose Eastbourne Town (at Worthing United) is off tonight as well, so I guess it’s the weather really, it’s just a shame.

“YM’s pitch, which is good, in the second half was cutting up on Saturday, the water table is so high anything tops it up again.

“I does not really matter as at some stage we’ll get the game played and Eastbourne Town will get their catch-up game in at some point.”

Horsham now travel to Wick & Barnham United on Saturday in the league, before a Peter Bentley Cup quarter-final at Loxwood next Tuesday.

Di Paola added: “Wick have signed a few and one or two from Pagham, with Jon Tucker going back there and Dan Simmonds there is one of the top scorers in the league.

“It’s another game that three or four weeks ago would have been a bit easier just like St Francis.”

On the Loxwood game, the boss continued: “Obviously we want to do well and you never go into a game not to win it.

“Obviously though we see the league as our priority at the moment, but I have not given it a thought at moment if I am honest.”
