Hailsham Under 13s Cricket Club are County Champions after a tense final victory over Warden Park.
The club went into the tournament at the County Ground in Hove in fine from after coming through qualifying unbeaten,
They posted 67-4 from their six overs in their first game with Shoreham Academy, and restricted them to 45-5 to record a comfortable victory.
They managed a further victory over Sackville to book their place in the final to set up a close battle against another group of talented cricketers.
An anxious Hailsham seemed to struggle with the pressure and limped to a score of 56-5. In response despite wickets being taken in the first two overs, the runs continued to mount up for Warden Park.
With two overs remaining Warden Park required 19 and had two wickets in hand, the penultimate over went for 12 but they did lose a wicket.
With seven required with one wicket remaining, a mix up with the batsman’s running and a run out chance was taken by the Hailsham field to secure the title as County Champions.
The team showed great character to defend their small score of 56 and claim the County Championship after a great day’s cricket.
