Half marathon ready for the off

THE Hastings Half Marathon, the showpiece event in the town's sporting calendar, takes centre stage on Sunday March 16 boasting a record breaking field of around 4,000.

Top class athletes from around the globe will converge on Hastings for the 19th staging of the annual extravaganza and will share the spotlight with the hordes of fun runners raising money for the various worthy causes.

The focus is very much on the women this year with two top international athletes gunning for the Manor Insurance award of 7,000 for the first lady to crack the elusive 71 minute barrier.
