Harris ton boosts Worthing in chill

ALEX HARRIS' maiden first-team hundred helped Worthing avoid defeat on Saturday for the first time this season.

The 19-year-old former colt, who has been appearing in the front side for the last three seasons, scored 102 in Worthing's reply of 230 for seven to Stirlands' 247-8.

He struck nine fours and on 86 survived a chance he gave to Australian Harjinah Singh at cover. In at No 4, he put on 65 with Casey Lee who, opening for only the second time, made 40. Harris then added 110 for the fourth wicket with Ben Shelford before falling to the slow-medium pace of the experienced David Briance.
