Hastings snap up marksman Collins

HASTINGS United manager George Wakeling has snapped up marksman Rob Collins on loan from Horsham until the end of the season.

Collins, who previously starred for Dr Martens Crawley Town, has fallen out of favour with the Hornets and speculation has been rife about his future all week.

United secretary Tony Cosens said: "He's on loan until the end of the season and if things work out there's a possibility he might stay beyond that. I know George has been trying to sign him for a couple of weeks. He was at training on Wednesday night and we signed him on then."

Wakeling was also attempting to recruit a former Wimbledon player although this may be scuppered if he impresses on trial at Rushden & Diamonds.

United visit Grantham Town on Saturday March 15 without suspended pair Steve Yates and Paul Ruddy.
