H&B expect tough battle against Trojans

KIT Claughton says that Hastings & Bexhill Rugby Club will have to be on top of their game if they're to reach the last 32 of the Powergen Junior Vase this weekend.

The in-form Sussex Division One leaders visit London South West Division Four outfit Trojans in the fourth round of the national competition on Saturday November 26.

H&B have already beaten two sides from London South East Division Four in the first two rounds, but this time they will have to do so on away territory.

Eastleigh-based Trojans are second bottom of their league with a win, two draws and four defeats from seven games, but they were the first team to avoid defeat against leaders Old Wellingtonians in their last outing and they recorded a comfortable victory over London South East Division Four side Charlton Park in the previous round.

"It's a step into the unknown a bit," said Claughton. "They're obviously a decent side and, although they've lost a few games in their league, they've all been quite close. It's going to be very, very difficult and it will be a real test of how far we've come. It's going to be the hardest match we've had this season and we're going to have to be at our very best to get a result."

Ben Davies (electric shock) and Tom Brampton (bruised ribs) should be fit, but Roger Roberts (ribs) is doubtful and Nick Edmunds and Andy Hitch are likely to miss out through work commitments. Kick-off is 2.30pm.
