Kent One runners-up H&B will travel to Crawley - who finished second in Sussex One - in a promotion play-off for a place in London Three South East next term.

H&B, who pipped Cranbrook to second place by virtue of winning more matches after the teams finished level on points, won 21-10 in an RFU Junior Vase first round tie at Crawley in October.

Head coach Kevin Smith said: “I’m expecting our hardest game of the season at Crawley. We beat them earlier this season, but it was a tough game. We

will need to look for any weaknesses we’ve got at training this week and identify our strengths.

“I think we can beat them and secure promotion. At training we’re preparing for a very testing game, but we showed we could battle hard and win last weekend against a very good side in the cup.”

Smith was referring to H&B’s narrow 11-10 success away to Bognor which put them through to the Sussex Shield final for the third year running. They will meet Sussex One champions Pulborough at Heathfield & Waldron RFC on Saturday May 10.
