H&B maintain winning start

H&B maintained their impressive start to the rugby season with an excellent 36-29 win over fellow Sussex League promotion hopefuls Crowborough.

Despite conceding an early unconverted try H&B soon gained the upper-hand through Jimmy Adams breakaway try and Neil Redman's boot.

Winger John Fairey marked his first start of the season with H&B's second, followed by tries from Andy Hitch and Tony Roche.

However, every time the visitors took their foot off the gas Crowborough came back and they managed to drag the score back to 26-19.

Redman then scored a vital penalty and Ben Campbell made sure with a fifth H&B try before Crowborough moved closer once more with two more tries of their own.

H&B are without a match on Saturday Ocotber 5.
