Heavy defeats for cricket duo

BEXHILL and Sidley both suffered crushing defeats in the latest round matches in Division Two of the Sussex Cricket League.

Bexhill limped to 108 all out in their clash at promotion-chasing St James' Montefiore. Kris Johnson (4-22) and George Ladden (3-18) did the damage with the ball, while Richard May top-scored with 22.

The home side cruised to 109-3 in reply with Ed Hart undefeated on 25 and Bexhill's overseas player Ian Ellis picking up 2-38.

Sidley also went down by seven wickets at home to top-of the table Worthing. The hosts were shot out for just 82 with only Paul Thompson (30 not out) making any impression. Chris Mansell took 6-22 and there were two wickets apiece for Ollie Rogers and Andy Lutwyche.

Aussie Blayne Cornforde (33 not out) and John Kaye (30) saw Worthing to 86-3. Peter King bagged 2-52.

Both Bexhill and Sidley received a solitary point from their matches to leave them near the foot of the table.
