Hellingly RFC 18 Crowborough RFC 50

Good conditions and a clear intent to spread the ball wide from both sides ensured some quality tries in this hard fought clash.

A brace of tries for both Geoff Dagwell and Nigel Pooley were the pick of the bunch for Crowborough, allied to a good display of goal kicking from Cooke.

Crowborough s dominance at scrummage and lineout and the resulting quality ball laid the groundwork for the Crowborough backs to get to grips with their opposition with man of the match Tom Ironmonger constantly asking questions from scrum half. Crowborough should have increased their winning margin several times late into the game but the final pass somehow refused to go to hand and the refusal of Hellingly to give in denied them any further score.
