GB international Adam Clarke and youth GB international Alexander Amos Yee crossed the line together in a time of 15.11, with Ross Skelton third in 15.26.

All three finished inside the previous course record of 15.37 set by Hastings AC’s Max Thomas in the inaugural Hastings parkrun. Hastings AC’s Rhys Boorman - a five-time course winner - was fourth in 16.46.

The ladies’ course record was also shattered by GB international and Sussex ladies’ cross-country champion Grace Baker, whose time of 17.23 knocked 74 seconds off the previous record.

Clarke, Skelton and Baker all started their running careers with Hastings AC.

The bumper festive turnout of 152 included parkrun tourists from Devon, Cheshire, the East Midlands, Yorkshire, East Anglia and all over the South East. However, Lucy Swanson-Zajac stole the honours as she’d flown in from Dubai!

Hastings parkrun is one of 350-plus parkrun events taking place nationwide every Saturday at 9am and was recently voted in the top 10 of them by The Running Bug community. The out and back 5km seafront course starts at Grosvenor Gardens, St Leonards, and is suitable for all ages and abilities. Nearly 1,450 runners have taken part to date.
