Hill have been on a great run of form, but knew Lewes would be tough opposition.

The first half was played at great pace, and was very open, with both teams moving the ball well. Both ‘keepers were in great form and thwarted many good attacks by both sides, leaving it 0-0 at half time.

In the second spell, Hill had much more positive possession and created lots of outcomes, with Captain Georgia Aloof finishing well to give the hosts an advantage, but it was short-lived and Lewes drew back shortly after. Midway through the half, Hill won a short-corner, and youngster Charlotte Childs dispatched a great strike into the left corner, giving Hill back their lead.

Hill continued to press and could have gone further ahead, but after a scrappy last few minutes, they took all 3 points in a well deserved team performance.

Next week, they are at home again to Horsham (10.30 triangle) and hope to take another notable scalp.

Lewes have a strong adult who controls the play in this their development team. She scored an early goal by taking on and beating 4 Hill players. But Hill worked hard to keep the score line to 1-0 by half time – Prideaux making some good saves and O’Shea shoring up the defence at the back.

Hill pushed up in the 2nd half and Hartman and Vans Agnew worked well together on the right wing. White and Griffiths were strong up front too and with help from Mcellan and Branagan in the midfield they forced a penalty corner which Griffiths converted to level the score.

But Lewes came at Hill hard in the last 15 minutes and another attack by their key player put them ahead again: by trying to level the game, Hill then conceded 2 more late goals.

Next week they play Horsham 5s at Ardingly – a 4pm start.
