Hodd signs contract with Sussex

BEXHILL-based cricketer Andrew Hodd has returned to Sussex County Cricket Club on a two-year contract.

The 21-year-old wicketkeeper/batsman, who has made one appearance during each of the last two seasons for Bexhill Cricket Club in the Sussex League, has come back to the county where he played all his youth cricket after two years at Surrey.

Hodd, who turned down a two-year extension with The Oval based county, will hope to see more first team action at Sussex because of Matt Prior's possible England commitments and the departure of Tim Ambrose.

He played just two first class matches for Surrey, but did post a half-century against Bangladesh A in addition to scoring a hundred in a three-day second XI match against Sussex during the 2005 campaign.
