Horsham Hawks keep Sussex basketball play-off hopes alive

The Horsham Hawks Under-11 basketball team avenged defeat to Worthing Storm earlier in the season with an emphatic 63-21 home victory.

With both teams vying for the final play-off spot this was a crucial win for the Hawks who have shown tremendous improvement.

A highly energised and disciplined performance saw the Hawks catch the Storm off guard from the start, and combined intense defence and solid finishing to lead
30-6 at the end of the first quarter.

The second period was much tighter before the Hawks re-established control in the second half and finished strongly on a 16-3 run.

Coach David Clayton said: “The team should be proud of the way they defended and rebounded with intensity and resilience against such a physically strong team.

“If we continue to play this way we have a great opportunity to win our final game at the Brighton Phoenix and achieve our goal of making the play-offs.”
