Captain Hannah Simpson said: “It was nice to be back to winning ways but it has always been coming. We knew it would be a tough game as Bedford have had some good performances and have picked up some good results since we last played them.”

Both teams started the game well and there were chances at both ends before Horsham took the lead through a Suzy Clapp short corner.

After some more good play, Horsham won another short corner which hit a player’s foot and a penalty stroke was awarded, which was again converted by Clapp.

In the second half, Horsham defended stoutly and had further opportunities going forward. They eventually sealed the points after a good passage of play saw Steph Dent score.

Simpson added: “It was a good performance by the team. We now have a tough away game to Ipswich to finish this half of the season before we compete in National Division 1 Indoor.”
