HOWICK QUITS PORTSLADE

SAM JONES magnificent century gained Portslade their first win of the season against Clymping on Saturday, but their celebrations were dampened by the news that captain Jamie Howick has decided not to play again this year.

Howick said: "I'm taking the rest of the season off. I can't give the commitment and I'm not up for it.

"I've played a couple of games this year and there's still all this rubbish going on in matches. I think it's best if I stop playing at the moment because I don't want to lose my temper and say something that will get myself and the club into trouble."
