Hungry Horse gallop to Plate victory

THE first of this season's Hastings & East Sussex Sunday Football League cup finals saw Hungry Horse Boys lift the Wisden Plate with a 2-0 victory over Hooe GAF at the Pilot Field.

Hooe started as slight favourites but fell behind on five minutes when they conceded a penalty after a defender was punished for a pull on a forward in the box. Matt Simmons saw his spot-kick saved but Mark Freeman followed up to strike home the loose ball.

Simmons made amends for his miss from 12 yards just before half time when he was allowed plenty of space to double Hungry Horse's advantage. Both scorers had chances to increase the margin of victory against a Hooe side that struggled to find their true form.
