Last weekend they climbed out of the bottom-two of the Sussex Premier League Premier Division when they beat Brighton & Hove by four wickets, during which opening bowler Andy Barr took a brilliant hat-trick.

It was a vital victory for Stuart Barber’s side as they had to win well to catch Brighton and give them a chance to beat the drop.

It is still too close for comfort as they are level on 161 points with Brighton, but are ahead only on points scored in the two games played between the two.

Brighton fell into the bottom three, but with the Sussex Development XI, who cannot go down, occupying a place below them, that place is deemed one of the relegation places.

As well as high-flying Cuckfield, they are also still to face Hastings, Horsham, East Grinstead and Preston Nomads. On Saturday’s match, Barber said: “If we can get Jordan Silk out, their topscorer from the last three weeks, it can be a really good game.

“We have just got to carry on with this mentality and I sincerely think we can get some more wins under our belt.”
