Intrepid Burgess Hill Runners find a variety of events across the globe

With several high profile full and half marathons fast approaching runners may have found it hard to locate any races to take part in at the weekend.

However, several intrepid Burgess Hill Runners managed to tour the club colours at a variety of interesting races spanning the globe. Kevin Walker, currently out in Australia, was the furthest from home taking part in the Two Bays 28km trail run from Dromana to Cape Schanck. Kevin was delighted to complete the course with a time just under 4 hours in the hot conditions and on difficult terrain (with the added obstacle of snake dodging!).

Five BHR also made their way to the self-navigated ‘Winter Tanners’ events put on by the Long Distance Walkers Association in Surrey which cater for a mix of walkers and runners.

Jon Lavis, Nick Dawson and Steve Roberts took on the approximately 20 mile route, whilst Susan Lyle and Jan Lavis opted to take on the extra distance and were pleased to complete approximately 30 miles. Meanwhile, running couple John and Marie Carey travelled to London to take on the Battersea Park 10k. Marie completed the event in 52:27, just short of a 10k PB, whilst John also logged a superb time of 56:15.
