Irish eyes are smiling at new eyes

IRISH show jumper Shane Breen had a new start when he moved to Hickstead early last year, married Chloe Bunn, daughter of Hickstead master Douglas Bunn, and their daughter Lorna was born.

He said: "I get on well with Chloe's brothers and sisters and of course Douglas, with all showing keen interest in what I am currently doing.

"It is a lot different having moved from Cashel in Ireland, where I had my family home, built up with my father.

"Living in the UK now means that I have a purpose- built stable area where I can look after my 12 horses that I have brought over with me.

"It also means that I have the extra advantage of easy travel, with Gatwick, Dover and main motorway routes to events cutting down the time and costs involved when living in Ireland."

He lost his favourite mount Mullaghdrin Gold Rain when he moved over to the UK but he already had a great working partnership with World Cruise, currently his favourite horse, with which he had won the Eventing Grand Prix in 2006.
