It's a year unbeaten

WHEN Rustington Football Club's match with Bosham was called off on Saturday, it was confirmed that Gareth Davies' men had gone a whole year undefeated.

Their last defeat was on December 3, 2005, and they have not lost since '” winning 33 and drawing two of their last 35 games. An even more remarkable achievement is awaiting Rustington, though. If they win their next three matches, two against Bosham, and against Shoreham Reserves, they will have won every game they have played in 2006.

No doubt, Rustington would rather have played on Saturday to go a whole year undefeated and boss Davies said: "It felt like a bit of an anti-climax really, but obviously we are delighted to have gone the full 12 months unbeaten.

"The players can be hugely proud of themselves and we are all going out for a meal on Thursday to celebrate. We are now focused on going the calender year unbeaten which again would be another fantastic achievement."
