It's not just horses racing on last day of Goodwood's festival

Sunday's family-orientated fixture starts at 1pm with two competitive Charles Owen pony races that see the next generation of racing talent compete over six furlongs.

Jamie Perrett, Frank Meehan, William Cox, Ben Ffrench-Davis and Ollie Sangster are among those under starter’s orders.

Perrett is the nephew of Pulborough trainer Amanda Perrett and in the 138cm pony race rides red-hot favourite Dillian’s Girl, which carries 8st 5lb. Second favourite Stretcholt Hermes, ridden by Lorcan Williams from Pembrokeshire, carries 7st 10lb.

Twelve line-up in the 148cm pony race where jockey Sangster is set to do well on Billie Jean. Hugo Hunt rides Goodwood team’s choice Jack Sparrow and Delilah Osborne takes the ride on The Hairy Quaker.

Seamus Buckley, clerk of the course, said: “It’s great to be able to run these Charles Owen-sponsored pony races at Goodwood – the racecourse is a great supporter of the racing stars of tomorrow.” The main race card for Sunday includes the Group 3 Greene King Supreme Stakes and the refreshed Anglo-Irish Stakes for amateur riders, run in memory of Gay Kindersley.
