JUDY LAUNCHES APPEAL FOR CORFU DONKEY RESCUE CENTRE

AN international appeal has been launched to raise 150,000 Euros to enable the highly successful Corfu Donkey Rescue, run by a former Chichester woman, to continue its vital work.

Judy Quinn, now 52, founded the Corfu Donkey Rescue in 2004, initially as a retirement home for a few rescued and abandoned donkeys. Now it has become a major shelter for abandoned, abused, unwanted and simply retired donkeys.

But the centre is now having to relocate and has only got until October to find new premises.

This means buying land, acquiring licences, building stables, a hospital and hay barn.

If the target is not achieved, Corfu Donkey Rescue will have to close its doors and evict more than 50 donkeys, while there are many more in Corfu, needing care and attention.

"I urgently need help from people either by sponsoring a building, paying for fencing or generally holding fundraising events. I need to people to help and spread the word, otherwise we will have to close and it will be a major disaster for the donkeys here," said Judy.
