The competition is held over two tracks across the year. Harry, from Smallfield, won many times at various tracks, Bayford Meadows, Lydd, Rissington, Camberley and recently competed in the London Cup at Rye House - where Lewis Hamilton learnt to drive.

Mum Sam said the family was very proud of Harry and his achievements.

She said: “Harry begged for a go kart since he was six, we got him one for his seventh birthday and he competed the following month. He has just gone from strength to strength since, winning his first ever race in June and the trophies and podium finishes have not stopped since. We are so proud of the way he has taken to driving so naturally and he listens and takes instruction well.

"He has gained the nickname Head Down Harry from always having his head down on the steering wheel trying to go faster.”

Harry is currently competing in the Bayford Meadows Championship, final round this month, he will then start on their winter championship.

He is also competing in the Lydd winter championship. Hopefully next year he will get enough sponsorship to enable him to compete nationally in the MSA championships, as well as club rounds at Camberley, Bayford Meadows and Shenington tracks.

The predicted 2019 costs are: New chassis - £1500; Competition entry fees - 40 x club rounds £2600; MSA championship fees - £1500 (based on last year - cost/dates yet to be announced); Club membership fees £150; Tyre costs for the year - 10 sets @ £136 = £1360; Engine maintenance - engine rebuild at engine builder 12 @ £230 = £2760; 2 x sticker kits - 2 x £200 = £400; Signwritten overalls/safety kit - £500.

Mum Sam added: “With Lewis Hamilton recently securing his fifth Championship win it seems fitting to write a story about the up and coming stars of the future.

“Lewis has also made the point recently that no ‘normal’ working class person will ever be able to succeed in the sport as the costs are just too high for it to be feasible.

“For Harry to be able to compete nationally next year in the recognised MSA championship he will need sponsorship of some kind to help with entry fees, travel costs and the up-keep of the kart.”
