Kenno a Rebel again - but Banks has gone

PAUL KENNETT has rejoined Worthing Football Club.

The powerful and now highly-experienced Lewes midfielder finished playing in the Conference South at the Dripping Pan earlier last season, owing to work commitments, but the management regime has dramatically changed since the season ended.

In the opposite direction, however, has gone Worthing keeper Rikki Banks. The 20-year-old was awaiting the option on a second year to his contract but the Worthing FC administration failed to write to him to with their intended first choice on it and this freed him to opt out himself and move on. Worthing thus lost their eligibility to be able to request a transfer fee from Lewes.

Banks joined Worthing two seasons ago from Crystal Palace and only missed one game for Rebels. He was Player of the Season after being ever-present in the first, during which Worthing were relegated. His improved consistency helped them reach the promotion play-offs this season.

Kennett is part of illustrious Rebels history. He began his senior non-league career at Worthing after leaving Brighton & Hove Albion. His manager at Woodside Road was Sammy Donnelly and Kennett was in the team who won the Sussex Senior Cup in 1999 and reached the first round proper of the FA Cup at Rotherham United the season afterwards.

He later captained Worthing, and Lewes.
