Langton positive as he completes squad with new striker Landais

Saturday’s narrow 2-1 defeat away to 12th placed Carshalton was a far cry from the poor 5-1 defeat at the hands of Cray Wanderers and 2-1 against County League club Littlehampton in the Sussex Senior Cup earlier in the month.

And with the inclusion of his new signings plus his latest goalscoring striker George Landais from Croydon Athletic who is a former Aldershot youth,, Langton is looking forward with optimism.

He said: “I haven’t got a problem with my team. After that performance the results will follow.

“I’m not looking to sign anyone else. I have now signed seven new players and we are much improved. This is now my team. But we must not let our standards drop.

“I asked the boys to play with heart, passion and discipline and to play attacking football and they did that.

“We were the better side in the first half. In the second half they scored two good goals with fine strikes and perhaps we should have shut the ball down quicker.

“We were attacking well all game and our goal was well taken.

“Nothing fell to us – the ball was coming off our knees but if we keep working that hard we’ll be OK.

“We are not playing like a team at the bottom of the league. Carshalton are playing with six or seven times my weekly budget, but you could not tell a big difference between the sides.

“My new signings such as Gareth Sanashee, Liam Flanigan and Wilko (Craig Wilkins) were playing well and it was shame we los Wilko in the second half with a thigh strain.”

Horsham chairman Kevin Borrett echoed Langton’s enthusiastic reaction to the defeat at Carshalton.

He said: “We were totally deserving of a point today. The spirit was incredible.”
