Having withheld a deluge of pressure in the final five minutes, Raiders’ backline was breached by Tompsett to level the scores at 27-27. With the pressure on, Angus Taylor’s conversion crashed wide of a post, only for a retake to be ordered after Worthing charged down too soon. Taylor calmed himself and added the extras to help his side a dramatic victory at the second attempt.

Things didn’t start well for Raiders with Alexander Ducker going over after five minutes to fire Redruth 5-0 in front.

Worthing responded well, though, and two tries from full-back Matt McLean in the following 15 minutes helped the home side open up a 12-5 advantage.

Back came the visitors, with scores from both Luke Vinnicombe and Nielson Webber, on 28 and 34 minutes respectively, ensured they regained a 17-12 lead. McLean’s converted penalty with the last play of the half meant Raiders trailed by two-points at the interval.

A brace of converted tries from substitute Dan Sargent and then Sam Hewick within 13 minutes of the restart ensured a Raiders bonus-point as well as firing them 27-17 ahead with just under 30 minutes to play.

Tommy Phillips forced his way over for Redruth five minutes later to keep his side in touch, while also gaining them a bonus-point.
