Lee misses out on Games place

Lee Emanuel has missed out on selection for the England squad for the Commonwealth Games.

The St Leonards-based athlete was overlooked for the three-man 1,500m team announced on Monday.

Instead the selectors plumped for the three men who represented Great Britain in the European Championships at the end of July, namely Andy Baddeley, Tom Lancashire and Colin McCourt.

All three made the final in Barcelona with Baddeley (Harrow) coming a disappointing sixth after winning his heat, McCourt (Bournemouth) ninth and Lancashire (Bolton) 10th.

Baddeley won the Aviva AAA Championships and European Trials back in June, with McCourt second and Lancashire fourth. Emanuel was almost a second behind the latter in fifth.
