Light sacked as Bexhill manager

BEXHILL Town have sacked manager Gary Light after just four months in charge.

The Green Machine have won just four games all season and currently occupy one of the two relegation spots.

At a committee meeting on Tuesday night (March 5), club members voted to dismiss Light.

Club chairman Del Longley said: "The morale of players was dropping and we needed a quick fix which hasn't come, so with eight weeks left we decided to try something else.

"Quite a few of the committee members are players who really care about the club and they will now have more responsibility in running the first team."

Longley is acting as head of the first team with selection issues and tactics to be decided by a democratic voting system.

Light joined Bexhill in November but oversaw only two wins in ten matches.

"I understand I've been let go but I haven't really been told much as I've been off work with the flu," he said. "I'm not particularly bothered by it and have nothing much to say."

Town take on Crawley side TSC on Saturday March 9. Danny Beecroft is out for three weeks after hurting his foot at work, and it is doubtful whether Nick and Neil Light will remain at the club after the dismissal of their father.
