Lovell-y stuff as Elise strikes gold

An emerging talent from Hastings Athletic Club made a successful England debut.

Elise Lovell won the Under-20 Home Countries Heptathlon held in Stoke after producing a solid display despite unfavourable weather conditions.

Her performances on Saturday included a time of 15.16s in the 100m hurdles, a personal best high jump of 1.56m, a shot put of 8.38m and a 200m run of 26.18s.

The following day, Lovell produced a leap of 5.37m in the long jump, a javelin throw of 27.03m and a time of 2:29.33 in the concluding 800m.

She was one of only two athletes chosen to compete for England in the under-20 age group, and her results helped her country secure an overall victory in the competition against teams from Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
