Manele Bay's good win adds to trainer's tally

BEFORE Christmas, Richard Rowe's string had been going nicely, producing some good wins, but the bad weather halted the flow. So it was good to see his runners back in the winner's spot during the last ten days, with better conditions.

Irish-bred Burren Legend produced a spectacular 25-1 win at Newbury in a three mile three furlong chase with Jay Pemberton on board. The nine-year-old Flying Legend gelding had an easy win in a competitive big field, with the soft ground giving him the going he needs.

It was a particularly rewarding win because his owner, Tommy Thompson, has been a staunch supporter of Richard Rowe's Sullington yard. His horse Mullintor was sent out from Ashleigh House stables, trained by Rowe, to win the Sussex National, and he has had other successful horses at the yard.
