Marrast thrown out in Thunder fracas at Northampton

Latvian basketball forward Janis Ivanovskis' robust play for Worthing Thunder frustrated Northampton Neptunes coach and captain Mark Spatcher in particular on Saturday.

Thunder were 40 points up over the division newcomers when, after Spatcher appeared to strike Ivanovskis, Thunder's Ryan Marrast acted as peacemaker but was ejected from the game by the referees along with Spatcher.

Shortly, after a separate incident, Neptunes' Joe Reynoso was also thrown out of the game for alleged violent action against Thunder's Pat Bates.

Thunder have video evidence to frame an appeal on behalf of Marrast.

See Herald for match details and interview with Ivanovskis.
