Master saddlers granted peek into life of the Household Cavalry

A GROUP of master saddlers including some from West Sussex had the privilege of visiting the Household Cavalry in London.

The outing was organised by Susan Smith of Geoff Dean Saddlery in Findon Valley, who is secretary of the Home Counties Society of Master Saddlers.

"We were delighted when the Major General said we could watch the parade in Hyde Park.

"When we first arrived, we watched the horses and riders getting organised in the parade yard," she said.

"It is a tremendous job because the horses are groomed to perfection and all tack has to be immaculate.

"The riders have to get into uniform and look perfect.

"It's quite a task to get 275 horses perfectly turned out."

She added: "It was a spectacular day and we were delighted by the visit."
