Mediocre Mile Oak

MID-TABLE Mile Oak continued their poor run of form when they slipped to another defeat at Wealden on Saturday.

They have not won since before Christmas Day and their confidence has taken such a bashing that when asked to play on a pitch that resembled a quagmire, they had to dig deep into their character.

After the match official, who did have some concern, gave his decision that the game should go ahead, Oak had a decent chance when Neil Roberts latched onto a Tony Burnett flick in the 15th minute and brought a great save from Wealden keeper Neil Linstrem.

Dave Ayre had a long range effort 20 minutes later as the game developed into a midfield stalemate but after that, chances were few and far between.

Fifteen minutes before half-time, Lee Sale rounded Mile Oak keeper Ashley Walker and Matt Hurley did well to clear from the line.

Walker denied Sale with an excellent save just after the break before, with the going getting heavy, Dan Merry fired the winner for Wealden in the 72nd minute.
