MICHAEL SCOOPS TABLE TENNIS TITLE

Michael White, from Littlehampton, took part in the tournament held by the National Association of Clubs for Young People in Widnes, Cheshire.

He defeated the Scottish champion in the semi-final and went on to beat the Welsh champion in the final to take the title.

Michael had previously won the under 12s national title representing the Boys Club in Eldon Way, Littlehampton.

He was joined at the competition by Laurie Wilson, who made it through to the semi finals in the under 12s but was knocked out by a player from the Midlands, and Garrett Scammell, who also got to the semi-final stage in the under 14s competition, to be knocked out by the Welsh champion.
