In atrocious weather conditions Mid Sussex fell behind just before the break to a well taken strike.

In the second half Mid Sussex stepped up their game and brought several great saves from Lewes’ keeper before the youngest girl on the pitch, Jessie White, hit a fantastic strike from the edge of the D that beat the entire defence. Mid Sussex sensed victory and continued to pour forward with the winner coming from Maya Kent’s unstoppable short corner.

In the closing stages Lewes threw everything at Mid Sussex, bringing save after save from Mid Sussex keeper Immie Broom and numerous last gasp tackles from Jade Hillier. Mid Sussex held on for a great win, their second of the campaign.

Mid Sussex had more to celebrate with the news that Maya Kent (pictured with Olympic Bronze Medallist Beth Storry) was selected to represent Sussex Women U14’s hockey team. It looks like Maya’s hopes to emulate Beth and play for Team GB took a step closer today.
