Midhurst end Wickers' unbeaten run

SOUTHWICK Football Club's nine-game unbeaten league run came to an end at promotion-chasing Midhurst with a 4-1 defeat on Saturday.

Wickers, playing up the slope in the first half, were 1-0 behind just three minutes before half-time. But, two quickfire Midhurst goals before the break gave Southwick a 3-0 half-time deficit and player-manager Dominic Shepherd conceded that that was where his side lost the game.

Shepherd said: "It's a shame to lose our unbeaten run. It's the first time we've lost in the league since October so I'm sure we'll bounce back.

If we'd gone in at 1-0 at half-time playing up the hill, I'd have fancied our chances of winning. Conceding those two goals in the last three minutes of the first half killed us. Not concentrating cost us the game."
