Molly and Jenny represent Harriers at championships

The Sussex County AA Combined Events Championships were held at Sutton Arena on Sunday 13th September. Molly Atkinson (U13) and Jenny Denyer (V60) represented Haywards Heath Harriers.

Mollie competed in the U13 Girls Pentathlon (Long Jump 70mH, Shot Putt, High Jump and 800m) and finished a creditable 15th place in her first multi event competition for the club with a score of 1127 points.

Jenny competed in the Masters Pentathlon ( Shot Putt, High jump, 80m Hurdles, Long jump and 800m) and this event is run as a one age division with the points scored on an age related basis. Jenny was the eldest aged 61 years. After 2 events Jenny was leading the competition and when there was only the 800m to go she was tied in silver position.

After a brave effort in the 800m, Jenny won bronze and was also excited to be in a World Record breaking competition. Diana Norman who was also competing but representing Surrey, broke the World Record for Women’s Pentathlon 40-45 age group.

Jenny’s bronze medal winning score was 1732.
