LAST week’s Superleague match was at home for us Nomad’s against a team from the Newhaven Engineer. Following a defeat in week one against Bexhill, and a victory the following week away to Rye, we needed to get some momentum going within our team, and build up the confidence of our new team members.
The match was a bit slow to get going, but soon we were on our way towards a second victory for the season.
There was a good second win for my ‘New Recruit’ Dan Smith – my skipper from the Wheel at Burwash, taking his second win in three also.
As for my own match, I took a 3-0 win, capped with the man of the match award just for good measure. This week we are at home to Hailsham – which is a contradiction as I live in Hailsham, yet play in Brighton!
Friday night, the Wheel were hosts to the Barley Mow, and we got an impressive 11-1 win overall. Not good enough to take the title, but we are a close second to the lads from the Horam Inn.
My mate Sheebo was goading me about the fact that he was in the 180 cup this year, and that I hadn’t hit one… well not to be outdone, I managed a 180 with my second throw. See you in the play-off mate!
This weekend I’m off to Birmingham for the PDC UK Open qualifiers.
I’m pleased to say that my roommate, Justin Pipe, is playing superbly at the moment.
He won the European Tour event in Austria at the weekend, taking out Gary Anderson and Raymond Barneveld before beating James Wade in the final. That pushes him to 15th in the world.
Let’s hope some of his talent rubs off on me soon!
