Bexhill win mean Stringers could go up Saturday

HAILSHAM Town recovered from being a goal down at the interval to win 4-1 at the Polegrove on Tuesday night.

Up against improving Bexhill United, who had beaten fourth placed Littlehampton on Saturday, Hailsham conceded in the first half – but it was a totally different story after the break.

Eighteen seconds in, Shane Saunders scored the first of his three from a Billings cross. Billings would also provide the ammumition for his and Hailsham’s second, whilst a Jamie Salvidge ball set Saunders on his way to a fine hat-trick. Ryan Alexander provided the other Town goal – his sizzling 30 yard effort his second since rejoining the Stringers.

Perhaps the biggest news from the victory though is that Hailsham Town now need just one point to seal a top three spot in Division Two this season, and with it, promotion back to Sussex County One at the first time of asking.

With Oakwood visiting The Beaconsfield tomorrow (Saturday), this could be sown up by the middle of March!
