The question occupying the fans’ minds on the long journey to Lowestoft was which Lewes side would turn up: the team that swaggered past league leaders Dulwich and Maidstone, or the team that capitulated to Grays and Hornchurch.
The answer was both. Despite the return of the ever-tenacious Jack Walder, Lewes started the game meekly, coming off second best in challenges and surrendering possession cheaply.
