Stuart Cameron-Waller finished top of the leaderboard to take this year’s Ede Challenge Cup at Lewes Golf Club. His 42-point Stableford total saw him two ahead of Tony Grainger in second, and five points clear of third-placed Graham Forster.

Don Fuller edged to victory in the October Stableford competition with 39 points.

In the Seniors’ Eclectic a Stableford score of 35 points in rough conditions was good enough for Robert Davies to win the latest round.

David Payne blew in second with 34 points and Seniors’ Captain David Stenning was third with 32. The conditions were so difficult that only seven of the 19-strong field were able to break the 30-point barrier.

On October 17 Piltdown’s Ladies surrendered their usual Thursday monopoly of the course and generously invited the Tuesday Boys to join them in a Mixed Foursomes stableford and lunch.

Thirty-two pairs were arranged for a shotgun start, the sun shone and everyone agreed that this first venture (yet another brainchild of Ladies’ Captain Mary Whitty) must be repeated every year.

The winners were Ken Bulteel and Sue Connor with a staggering 45 points, but as they modestly pointed out, it was off the ladies’ scorecard.
