Diary of a Darts Player with Andy Relf

LAST Friday our team from the Wheel at Burwash had a Heathfield League match against the Cross in Hand team that we had beaten the previous week in the Seamer Cup Final.

This had the makings of a revenge match for the Cross in Hand, but our team had different ideas on that one.

An emphatic 11-1 win for us, with some fantastic performances all through the team, only a minor blot where Sheebo and John lost their pairs match.

Must try harder next time guys... just not acceptable!

On Sunday I went off to Roffey in West Sussex for the Superleague play offs.

To be perfectly honest, I don’t think that Mothers Day is the best day to run the competitions, many people like to do family things that day, indeed I myself wanted to go and see my mum at some point throughout the day.

Having qualified for the Champions of Champions competition, I was a bit surprised to be told that it was going to be the last comp played on the day.

First up were the pairs, where I was partnering my team-mate Joe Davis. Joe is a great player and has confidence way beyond his 14 years of age. We lost out in the second round to Jim Withers and Adi Gray.

Adi won the Champions competition, sadly I withdrew before it began, as I’d arranged to see my mum later that day, and with time moving on, I would never have got there at a decent time.

The weekend ahead sees me travel to Barnsley for the second of the UK Open qualifying weekends; it is also my wife Kristina’s birthday whilst we are there... I take her to the most glamorous of places!
