EASTBOURNE Speedway fans are set to see Russian newcomer Denis Gizatullin on track for the first time tomorrow (Saturday).
His visa has come through and he is expected to travel from Poland, where he is currently based, for the club’s press and practice day which gets under way at noon.
Team manager Trevor Geer said: “Denis is so keen to get started and is certainly up for the challenge. We are also keen to see him out on track and I know our fans feel the same way.
“Everyone wants to see him in action and Saturday is the first opportunity for supporters to take a look at him.”
Co-promoter Mike Bellerby confirmed Gizatullin’s visa was in place, allowing him to race in the UK. He said: “It has been a long haul but the whole management team here at Eastbourne are sure we have brought a winner into the team. He is hugely experienced and will make a big impression here.”
The press and practice day follows the usual format: From noon, the press will be interviewing riders and taking photographs.
Once the press has finished, the riders will return to the pits to fire up their bikes ready for a series of practise laps.
Catering facilities will be open. Fans are most welcome to attend with no charge.
