Egerton Park Indoor Bowls Club powered its way into the quarter-finals of a national ladies’ team competition.
The Bexhill club surged into the last eight of the Yetton Plate courtesy of a stunning 102-33 thrashing of Dorchester at Palmerston IBC, Fareham, on Saturday.
Dorchester, in fact, conceded the game with 20 ends overall still to play as Egerton - who were cheered on by 10 supporters - were dominant in all four rinks.
Jo Morris, Alice Phillimore, Doris Wickenden and Mandy Carrie won 36-9, Emma Cooper, Di Stone, Nina Allbut and Lorraine Kemp won 19-8, Jean Noble, Doreen Hough, Marje Hendle and Jan Pilcher won 20-11, and Roma Dalby, Denise Hodd, Di Carpenter and Lyndsey Jamison won 27-5.
Egerton - who were runners-up two years ago - will face Honiton, from Devon, in the quarter-finals on Saturday February 14 at a venue to be arranged.
The other last eight ties, incidentally, will pit Doncaster against Louth, Bromsgrove against Beccles and Tye Green against King George or Swale.
Egerton defeated Victory 77-72, Preston 86-74 and Horsham 100-60 in the earlier rounds.
The club has achieved further success, meanwhile, with Jo Morris reaching the Zone Finals in the National Ladies’ Singles, and Di Carpenter and Pauline Forrester the same stage in the National Ladies’ Pairs.
