A blustery Sunday morning marked the end of the long time trialling season with the running of the Brighton Mitre 25 mile event held on the rolling Stenying based circuit.

East Grinstead premier rider Steve Dennis made light of the blustery conditions and stormed around the course in an impressive time of 56.30.

Top Lewes rider on the day was Pete Morris, whose fast time of 57.11 was enough to secure third on the podium.

Over the winter months members of the club have the chance to participate in varied cycling activities, including cyclo-cross and off-road riding, along with traditional Audax and Reliability rides.

The first major Reliability ride is the ESCA 48-mile promotion. Members please note that completed entry forms have to be with the event organiser (Esther Carpenter) by November 8.

The club has regular Sunday morning club runs, which set off from Uckfield at 9am from outside the town’s Boots the Chemist.

New riders are welcome to join the rides, which vary between 40 and 60 miles, with an obligatory tea stop at the halfway stage.

There is exciting breaking news regarding Jamie Lowden, who has been confirmed as topping the rankings in the Sussex section of the Surrey League. This is a fantastic achievement on his part, as Jamie had to beat some quality opposition to claim the title.
